2018 Influenza Letter

January 25, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are experiencing influenza in our community and want to try and keep our students as healthy as possible. We are asking for your support. Please keep your child home if he/she has symptoms of the flu. We are also asking, that you have them seen by a doctor to confirm a positive/negative flu test. Once you have results please contact us with the results so we can keep surveillance in our schools.

According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control) these are the differences between a cold and the flu;

  • With the flu you will have fever, body aches, chills, fatigue, weakness, sneezing, stuffy nose, sore throat, chest discomfort, cough, headache, vomiting and diarrhea.
  • With a cold you may have sneezing, stuffy nose, sore throat, chest discomfort, cough and a fever is rare.

Please keep your child home until an untreated fever (anything over 100 degrees) is gone for 24 hours. We appreciate your help in keeping our schools healthy. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call. Below is the link to the CDC if you would like more information about influenza.

Thank you,
