A Message From Your Principal
Dear Pecos High Panther Families,
Welcome to the 2021 - 2022 school year! I am thrilled to welcome you back to school. It is my honor to start my second year with all of you. After the past year of remote and hybrid learning scenarios, I am happy that we are moving closer to having all of your children on campus soon. During this time of continued transition, I want to reassure you that we will continue to keep our families updated with any changes. Speaking of changes, I would like to take the time to welcome Crystal Ortiz to Pecos High. She is taking on the English teacher vacancy left from Ms. Britton’s retirement. We are excited to have her energy and creativity help with our existing program.
We continue to work on keeping our school safe for the return of our students to mitigate the health risks from Covid-19 as we get updated information from the Governor, CDC, and NMPED. We will stay vigilant for the safety of our staff and students while we prepare for opening to students in August. As a part of our return, we will be keeping an eye out for students who may need social emotional learning support.
We will continue to grow in several areas this year. In the area of academic support, we will continue with Dual Credit from SFCC and LCC, AP courses, and UNM Soft Skills courses for enrichment. We are adding MC3 courses with SFCC and LCC to strengthen our CTE/Vocational offerings and we are adding Art Dual Credit courses with IAIA to give a boost for students wanting a creative outlet. Our SAT academic interventions will continue for students who need assistance. We are adding another NMAA sanctioned sport on campus, E-Sports! This is for our more tech savvy students who have asked for it. We look forward to a great year for all of our sport teams in 21-22!
Regardless of the changes for this year, please know our continued growth goal is to encourage active student engagement to foster a lifetime love for learning. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to working with you.

HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR
Ms. Kelly Cramer
School Counselor - PHS Site Testing Coordinator & Registrar
“If you have junior or senior high school students that plan to take spring dual credit courses at Luna CC or SFCC, please make sure they have applied online at the college’s website and are not failing any courses. After they have applied, they need to email Ms. Cramer AS SOON AS POSSIBLE with their acceptance and she will advise from there with your student. Accuplacer tests will be taking place tomorrow at 11:30 for Luna and Friday at 11:30 for SFCC. All students that have not previously enrolled in dual credit courses MUST take the accuplacer to be placed into classes. In order to take the accuplacer, they must have applied and been accepted to the college of choice. Thank you.”
